On January 11, Helsinki local time, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, executive chairman of China International Culture Communication Center Long Yuxiang met with the mayor of Helsinki Mr. Jan Vapaavuori, the two sides had the in-depth exchange of view on cooperation under the framework “The Belt and Road”, especially on ice hockey aspect.
Long Yuxiang said, China and Finland have friendly tradition. In April 2013, Finnish President Sauli Niinisto paid a state visit to China. President Xi Jinping has reached important consensus with President Sauli Niinisto on the establishment and promotion of a new type of cooperative partnership for the future and pointed out the direction for the development of China-Finland relations. On April 4-6, 2017, President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Finland. The two countries have mutual respect and mutual trust in politics, economic complementarity and mutual learning, and bilateral relations have developed stably and smoothly. Finland is located in the northwest extension cord of the “The Belt and Road”, has a prominent location, technology, resources and talent advantages in the Baltic region, and has been actively response to the China’s "The Belt and Road" initiative, in April 2015 it became the founding member of the AIIB. China International Cultural Communication Center as the national important window for foreign culture exchange and communication, has been actively promoting the Chinese culture to the world, and has established a profound friendship with the countries along “The Belt and Road”. Kunlun Red Star Ice Hockey Club under the supervision of CICCC has developed rapidly and made significant progress through the cooperation with the Jokerit Club. We hope to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Helsinki, promote the development and popularization of Chinese hockey, and promote the all-round exchanges and cooperation between China and Finland in other fields.
Jan Vapaavuori welcomed the visit of Mr. Long and his delegation and said that President Xi Jinping's state visit to Finland has yielded fruitful results and the two sides have reached a number of important agreements. Finland and China will further expand the exchanges and cooperation in the fields like investment, environment and clean technology, tourism, winter sports, education, arctic affairs and others which are under the framework of “the Belt and Road” and promote the interconnectivity of Eurasia. Finland is a great power of snow and ice sports, and its cooperation with China in snow and ice sports has huge potential. The cooperation between Kunlun Red Star Ice Hockey Club and Jokerit Ice Hockey Club is a successful example. We hope to further strengthen exchanges and communication with China International Cultural Communication Center and open up a new pattern of all-round exchanges and cooperation.
